We coach people just like you. People who are good at what they do. People who have worked hard to get to where they are. People who want to make a difference. And yes … people who want to make a positive change in their life but have hit a roadblock for one reason or another.

Uniquely, we use fly-fishing as a vehicle to help people make positive changes in their life. Change is difficult. Our job is to help you find the most success in the shortest amount of time, with the most lasting results. That is precisely why we combine coaching and fly-fishing. It works! We have found that fly-fishing (whether novice or expert level) mimics life. Spending time on the water will not only tell us how you fish, but especially how you work and do life. Fly-fishing is a highly informative metaphor for life.

So …we pair state-of-the-art psychological methods with the experience of fly-fishing to help high level performers (i.e., corporate leaders, professionals, media/entertainment personalities, and athletes) make positive change. The following are among the more common areas of success:

Renew Energy – Being realistic and responsible may result in a life of distress and boredom. Life/work imbalance leads directly to burnout and ineffectiveness. Positive Changetakes place when we reconnect to our personal values and give thoughtful consideration to modifying our behavior.

Manage Change – Every professional and leader has one thing in common, the need to influence change. Nevertheless, surprisingly few leaders have been provided formal training in this basic yet complex issue. Positive Changeoccurs when influencers discover strategies for finding the motivation and energy to initiate change, and making that change last.

Life TransitionsThey are inevitable but most of us are ill-prepared for those life transitions (i.e., mergers/acquisitions, succession, divorce, retirement, chronic illness, and sudden wealth accumulation). Positive Change … occurs when we thoughtfully consider our options, weigh the risks against the benefits, and draw from our intuition.

Enhance PerformanceEven the best of us loose our edge on occasion. As others have learned the principles of managing mind and energy for sustained high performance, so can we. Positive Change … happens when we are using less mental and physical energy to accomplish more.

Expand Interpersonal SkillsThe ability to develop and maintain strong relationships is one of the most important attributes in our world today. Positive Change ... is experienced when our disruptive blind spots are removed and we begin operating with enhanced social and emotional intelligence.

Step 1: TOGETHER WE SET GOALS

Coaching is collaboration between a qualified coach and a client that supports the achievement of positive change.

We have our initial goal planning session either in person or by telephone. At that time we establish a date and locale for our coaching-fishing retreat. Your level of fly-fishing expertise is usually unimportant. In preparation for the retreat, you will be provided a customized packet of information-gathering instruments to be completed prior to the event.

Some of the more common retreat destinations are Belize, California, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. Virtually anywhere you want to do the coaching-fishing retreat we will make it happen. All you do is show up, and we take care of the rest.

Step 2: RETREAT TO THE COACH-FISHING SITE

The coaching-fishing retreat typically lasts 2 to 5 days. The structure of each retreat is personalized to help meet your previously stated goals. This is done through time on the water, down-time, and coaching sessions.

Step 3: WE FOLLOW-THROUGH

Our dedication is to work with you until you fulfill your stated goals. The forum for the follow-through is composed of personal meetings, phone sessions, emails, and/or other coach-fishing retreats as desired.

Renew With Nature

Through 20 years of experience helping individuals, family-businesses, and work teams, we have found that water always activates and often accelerates the process of renewal, inner balance, and redirection. Positive changes take place on the water, especially the wild waters of natural rivers, lakes, and coastal settings. That is why we emphasize unspoiled locales for our fly-fishing retreats. Deep, soul-felt insight comes through to those willing to commit to such experiences.
